Last week I was invited to a Tropical makeover at the YSL counter in John Lewis. If you know me you know I wear close to none make-up on daily basis, but I thought I would give it a go. It was part of their promotional programme for a new summer, collection YSL got involved with the Seaside in the Square and it’s now offering complimentary makeovers to everyone heading the beach.

On Friday, I went to try it out with a few colleagues. We were received by the lovely Lauren, one of the make-up artists at YSL, with a glass of bubbly. Super chic, as you would expect with YSL.

We had a quick chat about the Seaside in the Square event and about YSL’s new collection. With vibrant colours and bold lines, it goes perfectly with the event. We also discussed our favourite make-up styles and what we felt most comfortable with.

My look was very simple – as I’m not too comfortable with make-up. On the eyes, she used a gold-tone defined with a brown shade from the couture mono Argare palette and the curter black mascara. For the face, Lauren applied an All in one glow foundation – which was amazing, the colour match was almost perfect and super comfortable to wear. She also applied the all hours concealer and Jasper Bronzer – for a tanned, defined look. The lip was bold, or bolder than I’m used too, but still a lovely shade number 217, Rouge Pur Couture The mats. All was set with Top Secrets Setting Spray, super refreshing.

I really enjoyed the experience of having my make-up done by a professional and to enjoy my look for the rest of the day.
